Meet the Presenters

Lynn St John

Lynn St John (née Delfosse) is a Registered British Sign Language Interpreter with over 20 years of experience, working across a broad spectrum of domains within the community. Alongside her interpreting work, she has dedicated herself to quality assurance—serving as an assessor, both internal and external quality assurance specialist (formerly known as a verifier), and more recently as an external examiner for the major sign language interpreting awarding bodies across the UK.

For more than two decades, Lynn has designed and delivered interpreter training programmes, as well as accredited courses for other language service professionals. In fact, one in ten NCRPD registered interpreters has been trained by her. She also managed the successful BSL Futures project, which trained four Deaf tutors to become qualified teachers and enabled 30 apprentice interpreters to register with the NRCPD, thereby enhancing access to high-quality language services in Wales.

Currently, Lynn serves as a Professional Standards Advisor and Case Examiner for NRCPD. Her outstanding contributions to the field were recognised in 2009 when she received the Joseph Maitland Robinson Award for Outstanding Contribution at Signature’s annual awards. In 2017, she further expanded her expertise by earning a Diploma in Sign Language Translation, making her both a qualified and registered interpreter and translator.
