Bek Cramp
Bek Cramp is a Certified Conference Interpreter (Auslan-English) with over 20 years of professional experience, living and working on Darug and Gundungarra lands in New South Wales, Australia.
She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Auslan-English Interpreting, a Master of Translation and Interpreting, and a Master of Research. Her research examined Arabic-English code-switching in Islamic religious teachings interpreted by Auslan-English interpreters.
Bek has a particular interest in working alongside Deaf people from minority communities to support culturally and linguistically appropriate access. Her research interests include interpreting practice, cultural and linguistic competence in religious settings, and the development of specialised terminology. Alongside her interpreting and research, she mentors emerging interpreters, supporting their professional development and entry into the profession.
