Anna N. Teitt

Anna N. Teitt is a nationally certified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter in the United States. She holds a bachelor's degree in ASL-English Interpreting from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree in Interpreting Studies and Communication Equity from St. Catherine University, Minnesota. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Deaf Studies, specialising in Interpreter Education, at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Anna has worked across a range of interpreting settings, with a particular interest in postsecondary education. Her doctoral research examines interpreters' experiences of secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma and other forms of trauma and emotional transference. She is particularly interested in how interpreters manage and recover from these experiences and how interpreter education can better prepare practitioners for the emotional demands of their work.

Her research also considers the experiences of interpreter educators, including the strategies they use to manage trauma-related challenges. Anna aims to bring this research into interpreter education, helping students develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to manage these challenges as they enter the profession.
