Is sign language interpreting/translation an emerging profession in your country? Are you a student or a trainee? If the answer is yes to either of these questions, then we have an opportunity for you to bag yourself a free ticket to attend The Together Conference -"Moving Our Professions Forward".

Competition 1

Student / Trainee Video Competition

 

Open to: Pre-registration, Student, or Trainee Sign Language Interpreters and Translators

 

Fee: There is no fee/charge to enter this competition!

 

🏆 Prizes:

Three lucky winners will each receive one complimentary ticket to access the full conference programme.

 

🎬 Submission Requirements:

Participants are invited to create a video (maximum duration: 3 minutes) in either English, British Sign Language (BSL), or Irish Sign Language. In the video-clip explain why you believe that participating in the conference would be advantageous, for your growth, as a sign language interpreter or translator.  Alternatively, you can discuss how the conferences’ themes of "Togetherness" and "Moving Our Professions Forward" will influence your future in these fields.

 

📅 Submission Deadline:

All entries must be uploaded by 17:00 on Tuesday, 30th April 2024.

 

📢 Winner Announcement:

Winners will be notified by Monday, 13th May 2024.

 

📝 Competition Rules:

 

Eligibility: Open to pre-registration, student, or trainee Sign Language Interpreters.

Video Language: Videos can be submitted in English, British Sign Language (BSL), or Irish Sign Language.

Theme Emphasis: Reflect on why attending the conference will be beneficial to your professional growth, or reflect on the conference themes of "Togetherness" and "Moving Our Professions Forward" in your video.

Video Duration: The video should not exceed 3 minutes in length.

Video File Size: No more than 100MB

Submission Deadline: All entries must be uploaded by 17:00 on Tuesday, 30th April 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.

Notification: Winners will be notified by Monday, 13th May 2024, via the contact information provided during registration.

Ticket Usage: The complimentary conference tickets are non-transferable and can only be used by the competition winners.

Content Guidelines: Videos should adhere to ethical standards, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.

Ownership: By submitting a video, participants grant The Together Conference for Sign Language Interpreters and Translators the right to use and share their content for promotional purposes.

Review: Members of our Conference Review Panel will review each submission and decide on the winners.

Colleagues in countries where Sign Language Interpreting / Translation is an emerging profession.

🌟 Competition Details:

 

The Together Conference Developing Professions Video Competition

Open to: Sign Language Interpreters and Translators living and working in countries where sign language interpreting and translating are developing professions. Typically, these will be countries where formal educational routes, regulation, professional development and governmental support are either absent or limited.

 

Fee: There is no fee/charge to enter this competition!

Two lucky winners will each receive one complimentary ticket to access the full conference programme.

 

🎬 Submission Requirements:

Participants are encouraged to create a video (maximum duration: 3 minutes) in either English, your native language or the dominant sign language of your region. English captions or subtitles are required if not submitted in English.

 

In the video-clip explain how participating in the conference would be advantageous, for your own growth, and how it will benefit other professionals working as a sign language interpreter or translator in your home country. You may reflect upon, and share your insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Sign Language Interpreting and Translation professionals in your region; with a focus on legislative, registration, regulatory, and research aspects.
