Meet the Presenters

Catherine King
Catherine King is a BSL/English Interpreter with over 25 years of experience. Her work spans a range of fields, including academia, social services, and the medical and legal sectors. Specialising in performance, she has contributed to a wide variety of productions, including mainstage performances and tours with the National Theatre of Scotland, Gaelic productions for Theatre GuLeor, and stand-up comedy for artists such as Adam Hills, Frankie Boyle, and Sarah Millican.
Catherine is currently pursuing a PhD at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, focusing on how dramaturgy, character, and objectives can be used as tools in the art practice of performance interpreting.
This session examines the increasingly blurred line between professional and personal identities, questioning how interpreters can balance their evolving circumstances with their commitment to facilitating access and supporting their communities.
